Effective 20 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information India Sorted collects when you use indiasorted.com, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you. It should be read together with our Terms and Conditions.

2. Information we collect
To prepare and file an eVisa application on your behalf, we collect:
- Identity and travel information that you enter into the application form, including your name, date of birth, gender, nationality, passport details, address, family details, occupation, travel plans and answers to the eligibility and security questions required by the government portal;
- Documents and imagesthat you upload, including scans or photographs of your passport's bio page and a passport style photograph of you;
- Contact information, including your email address, used to save your application, send you updates, and let you resume an application from another device;
- Payment information relating to your transaction, such as the amount paid and payment status. Your card and bank details are collected and processed directly by our payment processor and are not stored on our systems;
- Technical information, such as a resume cookie that lets your browser reopen a saved application, and standard web server logs.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- prepare, format and file your eVisa application with the government portal;
- verify the information you provide against your passport, including automated checks against the machine readable zone;
- save your progress and let you resume an incomplete application;
- process payment for the government fee, applicable charges and our service fee;
- communicate with you about your application, including status updates and, where relevant, your eVisa once issued;
- detect and prevent fraud, and comply with our legal and regulatory obligations;
- improve the reliability and security of the Service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your passport images or application details for advertising.
4. Automated processing of passport images
When you upload your passport's bio page, we use an artificial intelligence service to help transcribe printed fields into your application. This transcription is a convenience feature only. You are shown every extracted field and remain responsible for reviewing and correcting it before your application is filed.
5. Who we share your information with
We share personal information only where necessary to provide the Service, and always under contractual terms that restrict its use to that purpose:
- Payment processor. We use Dodo Payments to process your payment and to issue receipts. Dodo Payments receives your email address, the amount charged, and the payment details you provide directly to it.
- Passport transcription provider. Google, through its Gemini artificial intelligence service, processes your uploaded passport image solely to extract the printed fields described above.
- Cloud infrastructure providers. Cloudflare hosts our application, database and document storage. Amazon Web Services is used to deliver transactional emails, such as application updates and resume codes.
- Government authorities.The information in your application is, by its nature, submitted to the Government of India's eVisa authorities as part of filing your application. We do not control how the government subsequently uses or retains that information.
- Legal and safety disclosures. We may disclose information where required by law, court order or a lawful request from a public authority, or to protect the rights, property or safety of India Sorted, our users or others.
We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
6. How long we keep your information
An application that is started but not completed is kept as a draft for up to thirty days from your last activity, after which it expires and is no longer accessible. Once an application has been paid for and filed, we retain the application data and supporting documents for as long as reasonably necessary to deliver the Service, respond to any query from you or the government authority, meet our accounting and legal obligations, and resolve any dispute, after which it is deleted or anonymised. You may request earlier deletion of your documents as described in section 8 below, subject to any retention we are required to maintain by law.
7. Security
We apply technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit, access controls restricting who can view your documents, and authentication of requests to view or resume your application using a secret token rather than a public identifier. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may ask us to:
- confirm what personal information we hold about you and provide a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- delete your personal information, once it is no longer required for the purposes described in this Policy or by law;
- withdraw any consent you have given, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details on our Contact page. We may need to verify your identity, using the email address and date of birth associated with your application, before acting on a request.
9. Cookies
We use a single essential cookie to let your browser resume a draft application you have started. This cookie is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking, and does not identify you to anyone other than us.
10. Children's privacy
The Service may be used to submit an application on behalf of a minor, but only by a parent, guardian or other adult authorised to act for that minor. The Service is not directed at children acting on their own behalf.
